From Mayor Haynes:

On behalf of the City of Brownwood, I want to thank everyone for their tremendous support during this difficult time. The citizens of Brownwood have paid a great tribute to Shannon Stone and his family, and we have all been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from across Texas and even the nation. Although this event was tragic, we will never forget the kind words, condolences and financial support. We hope everyone will continue to keep Lt. Stone's family in their thoughts and prayers.

For those who wish to contribute to the Stone Family, you can do so online at http://www.brownwoodchamber.org or http://texasrangers.com/fund.

Keep Brownwood Beautiful

Is seeking individual volunteers or a group of volunteers to staff the recycling trailers the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. until 1p.m.   If you are looking for a service project for your organization, a way to meet new and interesting people or you just want to get out of the house, this may be the opportunity for you.  Volunteers assist residents in sorting recyclables and provide basic information on recycling, no special training is required, just a desire to better your community.
For more information you can contact Cary Perrin at 641-0533 or Tim Airheart at 646-3883.

CITY OF BROWNWOOD WARNING SYSTEMS

The City of Brownwood has two warning systems. The first is CodeRed.

CodeRed is a phone-based system used to notify Brownwood of emergencies

or important information. The system has the ability to call up to 1,000 phone

numbers per minute and deliver full, accurate messages to answering machines

and in person. The number you will see on your caller-Id is 866-419-5000

CodeRed cannot at this time, provide any other caller-Id, so please take note

of the number. Phone numbers for City of Brownwood residents may be

changed or
numbers added by going to web address: www.ci.brownwood.tx.us.

If internet is
unavailable to you, call city hall, 646-5775 and provide your name,

address, and phone number/s you would like to have on the system.

Sirens are the City's second system used for warnings. The long steady tone is a

warning tone and the up and down/wavering tone is the attack or immediate

danger notification. The sirens are tested on the first Monday of each month at

noon.

The City of Brownwood will use both warning systems in the event a warning is

issued. When a warning is issued, tune to a local television station or local radio

station for information. The use of a Hazard Alert Radio (weather radio) is highly

recommended in homes and businesses. By using the Hazard Alert Radio, the

user will get notification at the same time as the City. Hazard Alert Radios are

available locally for purchase.
