Purpose:  The Brown County Historical Commission is a local organization under the auspices of the Texas Historical Commission, a department of the State of Texas, organized for the purpose of preserving local history.

Projects:  Preserving and cleaning up cemeteries; preserving historical buildings and sites; writing and obtaining historical markers for events, people and buildings; preparing historical tours of Brown County; preserving local photographs; documenting and recording oral history; documenting local schools; documenting family owned lands held over 100 years; documenting rock fences and old barns; documenting Camp Bowie, the training site of the 36th Division in World War II.
