Older Adults

The Senior Citizen Program is located at the Coliseum Annex, at 110 South Greenleaf Street.  The program is open Monday thru Friday. Noon lunch is served for those 60+ - request $2.00 donation. Dominoes, pool, entertainment, nutrition programs, and fellowship are some of the events going on.

Younger Adults

Volleyball – Several different leagues are offered at the Camp Bowie Gym: Men, Women, Co-ed, Power, and Recreation.

Basketball – Several different divisions are offered: Women’s, Men’s Open, and Men over 30.

Softball – Several different leagues are offered:  Men’s, Women’s, Co-ed, and Church. The Brownwood Softball Association an independent organization operates the programs and usually starts in April until late summer and games are played at 2 softball fields at the Bert V. Massey II Sports Complex.

Disk Golf
- Riverside Park.

This is a 18 hole Frisbee Disc Golf Course that has one practice goal.
The Course is 5,873 feet long
We have 15 holes @ Par 3, 2 holes @ Par 4, and 1 hole @ Par 5

Brownwood Bowhunters - FM 45 S

Brownwood Bowhunters lease property from the City of Brownwood annually.  They have set up an Archery 3-D range and hold monthly 3-D contests including an ASA meet. 
If you are a bowhunter or looking at archery for an outdoor hobby, we encourage you to contact them at 325-998-6269 or stop by the Sportsman Center to find out more information.

Youth Activities

  

Girls Softball – Ages 5 –19th.  Is an independent organization and games are played at 3 softball fields at the Bert V. Massey II Sports Complex starting March through June. The organization adopts rules for play, set fees, and administers the program.  Web Site

Boys Baseball – Ages 6 – 12th. Is an independent organization and games are played on 3 baseball fields at the Bert V. Massey II Sports Complex and Mayes Field. The season starts in April through July. The organization adopts rules for play, set fees, and administers the program. Web Site

Sophomore Baseball - Ages 13 & 14 is an independent organization and games are played on Green complex, on Baseball Field #2 at Bert V. Massey II Sports Complex.

Teenage Baseball – Ages 15 – 18th. Is an independent organization and games are played on Green Complex Field #3 at the Bert V. Massey II Sports Complex. The season starts in April through July. The organization adopts rules for play, set fees, and administers the program.  Web Site

Soccer – Two independent organizations:

                  Soccer for Fun – Ages 4 – 12  Fall program at Coggin Park.

                  Cen-Tex Soccer – Ages 5–18 Fall & Spring at Complex on Crockett Dr.

Tennis Program – Free Lessons are given for ages 7 and up. The three week program is given in June at Coggin Park – 8am to 12 noon.

Track Program – This program is conducted by the Brownwood High School Track Coach. Those ages 6 through high school are eligible to participate in the two week program. The program starts in July at the Gordon Wood Stadium. Those in the program are preparing for the Regional Meet of the Texas Amateur Athletic Association. The only charges are those entry fees for the Regional Meet. This program has been offered by the Brownwood Independent School District in last few years.

 

  

Municipal Swimming Pools – The pools are open the last Saturday of May through the first week of August. Lifeguards are on duty at all pools. The two pools are open Tuesday through Sunday:

The Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center will open Sunday May 31st 2015 from 1pm to 6pm. We will be offering two daily swim sessions and will also have extended hours on Tuesdays & Thursdays until 8:00pm for family swim time.

*No coolers larger than 6 pack drink size allowed.

Tuesdays - Session I - 10:15 am to 1:45 pm  Session II - 2:15 pm to 8:00 pm

Wednesday – Session I - 10:15 am to 1:45 pm  Session II - 2:15 pm to 5:45 pm

Thursdays - Session I - 10:15 am to 1:45pm  Session II - 2:15 pm to 8:00 pm

Friday – Session I - 10:15 am to 1:45 pm  Session II - 2:15 pm to 5:45 pm

Saturday – Session I - 10:15 am to 1:45pm  Session II - 2:15 pm to 5:45pm

Sunday - 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm

  $2.00 ages 12 & under

  $1.75 for Day Cares & Senior Citizens
  Pool Punch cards are available! (12 visits for the cost of 10 visits)
  Lane Swimming will be offered Tues thru Friday from 7:00 AM till 8:30 AM

Pool Punch Pass fees:

Pool Punch Passes will include a punch card with 12 punches – each punch is good for one admission (12 visits for the price of 10 visits)

Lockers

  We have keyed lockers that require a token for access. Tokens are 50ข for one opening and closing. Tokens are available at the Concession area.

Party Pavilion

  The Party Pavilion is 30 ft x 40 ft in size with six (6) picnic tables.
  The rate is $35 for two hours which will include three (3) picnic tables (seating for 24 a
     fee of $20 for each additional hour over the two hour rate.
  Fee includes one free admission to the pool.
  Pavilion must be reserved one week in advance at the admissions office.
  The hours available for rental are 10:15 AM to 12:15 PM and afternoons from 2:15 to 4:15 PM.

Pool Rental After Hours  - Reservations start January 2nd

  Rental of pool must be made at least one week in advance, with payment in full when booked at Adams Street Community Center, 511 East Adams.
  Pool rental time starts at 6:30pm
  Rate is $250.00 for the first two hours and $125.00 for each additional hour (hourly increments only)
  A refundable $100.00 deposit is required, to be refunded if clean-up or repair is not required by city staff.  

Wiggins Pool - Will open Sunday, May 31, 2015.  Hours are 2 pm to 5:45 pm except Monday.  No admission fee is required at Wiggins Pool. Pool size: 44’x 80’ size (5’ Deep) (76,000 Gallons) 1100 Victoria Street (Victoria & Orange)

Community Gyms:

Bennie Houston Recreation Center – 505 Cordell – Operates as a recreation center. Basketball, table games, etc. Building is available to rent on weekends.
