City of Brownwood pools are set to reopen for season with additional safety precautions and 50% occupancy.
As of the revised June 3, 2020 “Minimum Standard Health Protocols” the outdoor swimming pools may operate up to 50% of the normal operating limits. The Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center occupancy capacity is 424 people, so 50% would be limiting the pool to 212 people at this time. Wiggins Pool has an occupancy capacity of 240 people, so 50% would limit this pool to 120 people.
The CIty of Brownwood is currently following the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention – for Public Pools.
- Cleaning and Disinfection surfaces of restrooms, diaper-changing stations, showers, door handles, lounge chairs, handrails, slides, and tables. We will have cleaning and disinfections done daily prior to each of the daily swim sessions.
- Encourage all, staff, patrons, and swimmers to wash their hands often and cover their coughs and sneezes.
- We will post symptoms of possible COVID-19 for all employees to view with the understanding that if the employee feels any of the listed symptoms, they are to notify their supervisor quickly. All employees will have a temperature check upon arrival to work, with those greater than or equal to 99.9 degrees Fahrenheit not allowed to work unless they have a doctor’s note.
- Employees will be instructed on proper safety protocols of cleaning the facility.
- Modified Layouts by changing deck layouts to ensure that in the standing and seating areas, individuals can remain at least 6 feet apart they don’t live with in the same household.

- Tuesday thru Sundays – 2:00 pm till 5:45 pm
CAMP BOWIE FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER – Tenative opening June 13th
- Closed on Monday’s
- Morning Session Closed until Lifeguard Certification is Completed (June 26th)
- Tuesday & Thursday Evening – 2:15pm till 8:00pm
- Wednesday & Friday & Saturday – 2:15pm till 5:45pm
- Sunday – 1:00pm till 6:00pm
- Once Morning Sessions are re-opened it will be Tuesday thru Saturday from 10:15am till 1:45pm.
