[ARCHIVED] Proposed Animal Ordinances

The following ordinances were discussed in detail during the August 13th regularly called City Council Meeting. 

  • Consider an ordinance on first reading regarding the keeping of chickens in the City Limits. Approved on 1st reading.

  • Consider an ordinance on first reading revising the City’s animal ordinance regarding rabies vaccinations; dangerous dogs; regulating the care and humane treatment of animals; requiring sanitary conditions for animals and maintenance of the premises upon which they are kept; regulating the confinement of dogs or cats in motor vehicles; prohibiting the defecation by dogs on private or public property without removing or disposing of the excreta. Approved on 1st reading.

The following ordinances will be back before City Council for a second reading on Aug. 27th.

In addition, the Council may discuss a spay/neuter ordinance at a future date.
